Terri Spann

Terri Spann is in her 11th season at Arizona Storm VBC and it will be her 7th year as the Club Director.  Coach Spann has been an active coach in the valley for over 20 plus years. She originally moved to Arizona from Long Beach, CA to attend Arizona State University ('94-'97). Coach Spann stood out in the Pac-10 as a dominating 5'7 Outside Hitter, a four-year starter and ranked in the top 10 ASU volleyball record books in several categories while earning All-Pac-10 honors.

After finishing her playing career, she began her coaching career at Xavier College Preparatory in Phoenix as the head coach and led the Gators to back-to-back appearances in 5A State Championships, including winning the title in 2000.

After two years of coaching in high school, Spann moved on to serve as an assistant collegiate coach in two of the best volleyball conferences.  Her first coaching position, in the BIG-12 at Texas Tech and then she went back to her alma mater in the Pac-10 at ASU.  Spann helped take both collegiate programs to the NCAA tournament. 

When Spann left coaching at the collegiate level to focus on her family, she began coaching at Arizona Storm in 2009.  She has trained some of the best nationally ranked players. As a club coach within Arizona Storm, she has won multiple titles including: 18-Open Festival title in 2010, 15-Open Junior National title in 2013 and 16-Open Junior National title in 2014. Most recently she took her 17 Thunder team in the summer of 2015 where they finished second.

Spann is in her 4th season as the Basha High School Varsity Volleyball Head Coach.  In her first season as a Basha Bear, she led her team to a 20-18 overall season record and an appearance in the 2013 State Tournament. In her 2nd season they finished tied for 3rd in state for Division I. Spann was named 2014-2015 Division Coach of the Year for Basha HS.

As a successful player and coach, Spann continues to work with aspiring volleyball talent to help them achieve their highest potential in the sport. She also serves as a mentor, advising student-athletes how to get to the next level after their club career is over.  She is very successful guiding athletes in the right direction to play at the collegiate level.

Spann was named the 2016 AVCA 18s Club Coach of the year!  Huge honor for Spann to be recognized on a National level!  The 2016 class was the most decorated team in AZ histroy over the course of 5 seasons. Both Spann and her assistant coch Jami Rolfes watched 9 of their 12 players sign with Division I NCAA programs.

Coach Spann is married to her college sweetheart, Creig Spann, and together they have 3 children – Justine (20) who is a Junior and playing college volleyball at the University of Colorado, Justice (13) and Jayden (11) who are stud football players.
