A true architect and pioneer of the sport here in
Arizona, Marc comes to AZ storm VBC with a list of awards and accolades.
Marc built the Salpointe high school programs from the ground up in the
mid 1990s' He guided the lancers to 4 state final fours, Won two Mens
Volleyball state championships in 1991 and 1994. He was named Volleyball
magazines coach of the month in September 1995, was the named state coach
of the year in 1993 for women's volleyball and again in 1994 for Mens
volleyball. Marc Was named the 5a south region coach of the year in 1992,
1993, 1994, and 1995. Marc also was named the Gatorade Coach of the Year
for 1994 off the dominate performances of his Womens, Mens and Club Teams
As a club coach Marc Coached for AZ Fear 12-1 team in
2009.
He coached for Southern Arizona Juniors 16-2 and 16-1 in 1991 and 1992,
Club Cactus Juniors 16-4 and 18-1 in 1992 and 1993, Zona VBC in 1994 and
1995 18-1.
His Southern Arizona Juniors team finished in 6th place at Davis in 1991
and his Club Cactus Juniors team finished in 8th in 1992.
Marc was the camp director for Marc Townsend Sports Camps from 1993-1995.
This Camp he designed for boys and girls for 5th grade to 8th grade to
help teach the basics of volleyball. These camps ran for 4 weeks and had
over 80 players per session. Marc coached 52 high school players that
continued to play in college.
Marc is married to Tammy Lynn Townsend and they are raising one daughter
named Ellie who is in the Storm program. Marc is a small business owner,
Professional Angler, and radio personality when not coaching.
Marc is EXTREMELY creative, positive and innovative
in his approach to coaching. He is passionate about the sport.
